Amsterdam police arrested more than 60 people due to riots after the Ajax-Maccabi match

Palestinian supporters staged attacks on fans of the Israeli club, which escalated into pogroms of Jews throughout the city

Police Amsterdam arrested 62 people due to riots in the city after the match Ajax And Maccabi Tel Aviv V Europa League 2024/25.

There was reportedly a large march of fans of the Israeli team in Amsterdam before the game. However, representatives of Palestinian communities and groups subsequently became active in the city. Supporters of Palestinian independence began to attack fans, and the attacks subsequently escalated into pogroms of Jews throughout the city.

Due to the unrest, five people were injured and taken to hospitals; Israeli media talk about at least ten casualties. Israel sent two special planes to Amsterdam to evacuate fans from the Netherlands.

The match itself was also a scandal. Some Maccabi fans refused to honor the victims of the storm in Valencia with a minute of silence before the start of the meeting. It was also reported about other provocations from fans of the Israeli club before the fight, including an attack on a taxi driver.

By mid-day Friday, the police had released most of those detained. Ten people remain in custody, including two minors. They are accused of open violence, these people will remain in custody until the court’s decision.
