The defender remains without a club since the summer
As it became known Sports Arena, Metalist 1925 is considering the possibility of signing the ex-defender of the Ukrainian national team Yaroslav Rakitsky.
The 35-year-old defender has been without a club since the summer after leaving Shakhtar. Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian could continue his career in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates or China.
In September there was information that Yaroslav was interested in acquiring the first league FSK Mariupol. The club itself neither confirmed nor denied the news, noting that the player could benefit the team on the football field.
Rakitskyy played for the first team of the Miners since 2009, playing more than 300 matches for the Donetsk club. As part of Shakhtar, Yaroslav won 10 Ukrainian champion titles. The defender also won the Ukrainian Cup seven times and the Super Cup six times.
From 2009 to 2018, Rakitsky played 54 matches and scored 5 goals in the Ukrainian national team jersey. He played with the national team at Euro 2016.
Metalist 1925 is in second place in Group B of the First League with 26 points. In the next match, the Kharkov team will host Kudrovka on November 16.
