Famous former defender Aleksandar Kolarov received the first coaching position in his career – he headed Serbian youth team (U-21).
The contract with the young specialist (he will turn 39 on November 10) was signed until the summer of 2027.
Kolarov announced his retirement in June 2022. At the same time, he announced that he was going to begin training as a sports director and scout in Italy.
The Serbian, who played at left back, had a distinguished career during which he played for Cukaricki, OFK, Lazio, Manchester City, Roma and Inter. Won a total of 11 trophies (including three championship titles) in England and Italy. In 2011, Kolarov was recognized as the best player of the year in Serbia.
Aleksandar played 94 matches for his national team, scored 11 goals, and gave 13 assists. He took part in two World Cups, at the last of which (in 2018) he scored the winning goal against Costa Rica.
The Serbian youth team beat Ukraine (1:0) in their last match, but failed to qualify for the 2025 EURO, finishing third in their qualifying group.
