On Wednesday, November 13, Mikhailenko’s team will start in qualifying with a match against Kazakhstan
The application became known Ukrainian youth team (U-19) for the November qualifying matches for the 2025 European Championship.
To participate in the qualifying mini-tournament, which will be held in the Netherlands, the coaching staff led by Dmitry Mikhailenko called 22 players. The list includes Manchester United U-18 midfielder Zakhar (Zachary) Baumann, who has just received a Ukrainian passport.
Also included in the application are goalkeeper Vladislav Surkis, midfielder Christian Shevchenko and 16-year-old Metalist defender Kirill Digtyar.
Goalkeepers: Vyacheslav Surkis (Dynamo), Nazar Makarenko (Alexandria), Markiyan Bakus (Rukh).
Defenders: Denis Dikiy, Vladislav Zakharchenko, Maxim Korobov (all Dynamo), Vladislav Shershen (Kolos), Daniel Vernattus, Kirill Digtyar (both Metalist), Alexander Gavrilenko (Slask, Poland).
Midfielders: Daniil Ishchenko, Kirill Osipenko, Bohdan Redushko (all Dynamo), Viktor Tsukanov (Shakhtar), Gennady Sinchuk (Metalist), Ilya Khrunik (Prykarpattya), Artem Husol (Kolos), Christian Shevchenko (Watford, England), Zakhar Baumann (Manchester) United, England), Maxim Len (Fortuna, Germany).
Forwards: Matvey Ponomarenko (Dynamo), Oleksandr Lomaga (Shakhtar).
Let us remember that in October, Mikhailenko’s team took part in the friendly “Tournament of Four” in Marbella, Spain. The blue-and-yellows lost to the Netherlands U-18 in the semi-finals (0:1), and then lost to the England team of the same age in the bronze final (1:3).
Next Wednesday, Ukraine will begin qualifying for the 2025 European Championship with a match against Kazakhstan. On November 16, Mikhailenko’s team will face Slovenia, and on November 19 – the Netherlands.
To qualify for the elite round of selection, the blue-yellows must take one of the first two places in their quartet. The chance to advance from third place is minimal – it will go to only one “lucky loser” in 13 groups.
