Dziuba on time without a club: “The period is difficult psychologically, you fight with your demons, a lot of doubts arise”

Before “Akron » Artem Dzyuba in an interview with , he said that it was very difficult for him to be a free agent in the final days of the transfer window.

Dziuba is 36 years old and was traded to Akron in September. After leaving Lokomotiv Moscow in May, the footballer was in free agent status. Previously, he played for Spartak Moscow, Tom Tomsk, Rostov, Zenit Saint Petersburg, Arsenal Tula and Turkish club Adana Demirspor. This season for Akron, Dziuba has scored two goals and provided three assists in eight games in all competitions.

– Let’s just get back to this transfer window. How did you stay in shape during the summer? And how difficult is it to do this when you don’t have a club, but, as I understand it, you have your own coaches?

— Actually, there is Dmitry Yashankin, who works in the gym, especially with hockey players. He has already proven himself – he worked with me for 7-10 days before Lokomotiv. Plus, there’s always football and tennis… I’m mostly active.

And it seems to me that now, at this age, I know and feel my body better and I will prepare better than in any team. I had periods even at Lokomotiv where my knee hurt. In winter I was sent to study individually and came [на зимний сбор] with crazy fat: my record is 9 to 10.1 or something like that. With crazy muscle mass, in the best shape of his entire football career.

That is, I already have two such periods where I myself worked for a long time. There is a coach who trains me in the gym, and there is tennis-football-tennis-football. Slutsky rightly says that every football player has muscle memory. You’ve been playing professional football since you were six years old and you can’t forget how to play in six months, it’s impossible. Everything else is mentality.

There are of course certain nuances. Classically: as for fat, it’s still easier to be in a team, because there we burn more and we behave better, understanding the objective and knowing that we have a Saturday-Sunday match and you have to prepare yourself. When you cook yourself, you can always treat yourself somewhere and have a larger meal with friends. Sometimes it happens, you’re constantly plowing for a month or two, and then you’re already so sour and you’re like, “When is this going to end?” Is the objective really justified? So, I’m going to take a break for a day or two. You say to yourself: as soon as the transfer window closes, I’m going to take a break for a week or two to recover psychologically and physically. This is a difficult time psychologically; you are actually fighting your demons. Many doubts arise at the moment.

— Did you ever feel like the transfer window was ending, that you were without a club and that those same doubts were setting in?

“You take it off yourself, but some disturbances occur in your body.” I don’t know, maybe you’ll get a rash or something, you’ll start to feel bad. It’s involuntary, psychosomatic, that you don’t feel on any level,” Dzyuba told .

After 15 games, Akron is in ninth place with 16 points in the WORLD RPL standings. In the next round, Zaurbek Tedeev’s team will face Rubin Kazan on November 22.
