Football’s main governing body wants to add a feature that already exists in many other sports.
FIFA plans to reform the use of VAR in football.
According to ESPN, citing Pierluigi Collina, the organization plans to expand the power of VAR, giving coaches the opportunity to ask the referee to reconsider a given moment thanks to this system.
Collina said the coaches will have a limited number of opportunities to play, and if the referee doesn’t change his decision after the review, the opportunity will “burn away.”
The former Italian referee also noted that this system will first be introduced in “leagues with fewer resources” than the top championships.
Note that a similar system works in hockey and basketball. Also, the so-called challenges can be taken in tennis, but there they are taken by the player himself, and not by the coach.
Let’s remember that it was previously reported that the UEFA leadership actively used planes, despite recommendations for national teams to fly less.
