The Frenchman, who has not played for more than a year, will be able to return to professional football from March 2025
Juventus officially announced that he had reached a mutual agreement with the midfielder Paul Pogba about termination of the contract from November 30.
The club wishes the 31-year-old all the best for his professional future.
Paul previously stated his desire to return to the field as soon as possible. The midfielder said that he had rethought his life and was ready to resume his career from a “clean slate.”
Pogba is reported to be in talks with Marseille over a move during the winter transfer window. MLS and Saudi Arabia clubs also requested information about the player. In particular, in October it became known about interest from FC Los Angeles.
Last fall, the Frenchman was caught doping – testosterone was found in his tests; a repeat test confirmed the result. In February 2024, the Italian National Anti-Doping Tribunal officially handed Paul the maximum ban of four years, but Pogba exercised his legal right to appeal against the decision.
In early October, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) heard Pogba’s appeal and reduced his ban from four years to 18 months. Thus, starting in January 2025, Pogba can return to training at any club, and starting in March, he can take the field in official matches.
Pogba returned to Juventus from Manchester United in the summer of 2022. The Frenchman last appeared on the field on September 3, 2023 against Empoli (2:0).
