Luis de la Fuente’s team won Group A4 ahead of schedule with 13 points
Spain turned out to be stronger Denmark in the away match of the 5th round of Group 4 Division A League of Nations 2024/25 – 2:1.
The favorite opened the scoring in the opening of the meeting – Mikel Oyarzabal, the scorer of the winning goal in the Euro 2024 final, scored from a pass from Ajose Perez.
A similar story repeated itself in the opening segment of the second half – now Perez himself took advantage of Dani Olmo’s assist.
The 31-year-old Villarreal striker scored his first effective actions in an official (only his third) match for the national team. Previously, Ajose scored a goal and an assist against Andorra (5:0) in his debut match for Furia Roja in June 2024.
Denmark managed to avoid a dry defeat – a prestige goal scored by substitute Gustav Isaksen from Lazio.
Spain, having scored 13 points, won Group A4 ahead of schedule and advanced to the playoffs (quarterfinals) from first place. Denmark, despite the setback, remained second.
On November 18, the Scandinavian team will have a decisive battle with Serbia away. Luis de la Fuente’s team will host Switzerland on the same evening.
