Cristiano led Portugal into the quarter-finals of the Nations League, as Croatia lost to Scotland

The two League of Nations matches in Group 1 of Division A have ended.

Two matches of the fifth round of the League of Nations group stage took place, with Portugal meeting Poland at home, and Croatia visiting Scotland.

The Portuguese could not find the key to the goal of the Poles for a long time, who needed a victory in this match to continue the fight for the playoffs.

Only in the second half did Rafa Leau open the scoring, after which the goals started to rain. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a double, and while the first goal was scored from the penalty spot, the second veteran scored an overhead kick.

Bruna Fernandes and Pedro Neto added another goal each, and the Poles managed only one goal when the score was 0:5.

Portugal – Croatia 5:1
Objectives: Leão, 59, Ronaldo, 72 (penalty), 87, Fernandes, 80, Neto, 83 – Marchuk, 88

In Croatia’s second group match, even a draw would have been enough to guarantee their access to the playoffs, but they didn’t get the desired result. At the end of the first half, Petar Sučić was sent off from Dinamo Zagreb, forcing his team to give the initiative to the opponent in the second half.

However, Croatia held on, but still got a goal in the 86th minute, which brought Scotland their first victory in this tournament.

Scotland – Croatia 1:0
Purpose: McGinn, 86

After this round, Portugal with 13 points guaranteed its own first place in the quartet and access to the 1/4 finals, while the Poles missed the chance to advance further. But Scotland can still beat the Croats and take second place if they beat Poland, and the Croats lose to a lackluster Portugal in the final round.
