The goalkeeper of the Georgian national team made a number of important saves at the end of the match
Goalkeeper Georgian national team Giorgi Mamardashvili considers a draw to be a fair outcome of the match with Ukraine (1:1) in the fifth round Nations League 2024/25.
“We have a decisive game ahead against the Czech Republic, and we will definitely do everything to win. Today was a difficult game, the rain hindered both teams a little, and in the end the natural result was a draw. In my opinion, there were important saves in the end and I’m glad I helped the team.”

Ukraine took the lead at the beginning of the meeting, after Mikhail Mudryk’s cross, Solomon Kvirkvelia cut the ball into his own net. The hosts bounced back in the second half – substitute Georges Mikautadze played the finishing touch after Anatoly Trubin made a save. At the end of the match, the blue-yellows had a chance to snatch victory, but Mamardashvili repelled the guests’ attacks twice in one attack.

The Ukrainian national team, having scored 5 points, is still last in its quartet, having more than a real chance of relegation to Division C. The fate of Sergei Rebrov’s team will be decided in the final match with the Albanian national team, which will take place in Tirana on November 19.
Georgia has 7 points after five rounds. In their final match, Willy Sagnol’s team will play against the Czech Republic away.
