Genoa officially sacked Gilardino as head coach

The 42-year-old specialist has led the Griffins since December 2022

Genoa officially fired Alberto Gilardino from the post of head coach.

The 42-year-old specialist has led the Griffins since December 2022 and raised the team to Serie A. However, Genoa is now in crisis – 17th place after 12 rounds and only two victories to its name.

Before Genoa, Gilardino headed Pro Vercelli and Siena. During his playing career, Alberto became the 2006 world champion with the Italian national team, and also won the Champions League with Milan in the 2006/07 season.

It was previously reported that the main candidate for the post of the team’s new coach is Patrick Vieira, whose last place of work was the French Strasbourg.

In the next match, the Griffins will host Cagliari at home on November 24. Let us remind you that Ukrainian midfielder Genoa Ruslan Malinovsky continues to recover from injury.
