Sergei Rebrov’s team will take part in the playoffs for the right to enter Division A
IN Tirana The match of the final sixth round in group B1 has ended Nations League 2024/25 — Ukrainian national team won an away victory over Albania (2:1).
The scoring was opened already in the 5th minute – Alexander Zinchenko shot low from 15 meters, Tomas Strakosha touched the ball, but was unable to divert the threat from his own goal. Another five minutes passed and Ukraine doubled its advantage – Georgy Sudakov threw the ball into the penalty area, Efim Konoplya headed the ball along the goal, where Roman Yaremchuk sent it into the net without any problems.
Albania pulled one goal back in the 75th minute – Nedim Beirami converted the penalty, which was awarded for a foul by Anatoly Trubin. Sergei Rebrov’s team still managed to hold out and win the most important three points in the time remaining before the final whistle.
As a result, the Ukrainian national team achieved the best possible situation for itself that only existed before the final round. The Czech Republic beat Georgia at home (2:1) in a parallel match, which means that Ukraine took second place in the group and will take part in the playoffs for the right to advance to Division A.
The Czech Republic received a direct ticket to Division A, and Albania received relegation to Division C. Georgia, in turn, will take part in the playoffs for the right to remain in Division B.
