Alexander opened the scoring in the match with Albania in the 2024/25 Nations League. The blue-and-yellows carried out a combination on the left flank, Roman Yaremchuk’s shot was blocked by the defenders, after which the ball bounced to Zinchenko. The midfielder hit the bottom corner of the Albanians’ goal with a half-volley.
After celebrating the goal, Zinchenko brought the Ukrainian national team T-shirt with the number “1000” onto the field. The midfielder reminded the world of the thousandth day of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
