Legendary Italian Fabio Capello has spoken about the coaching changes at Genoa.
According to the ex-specialist, the Griffins’ management chose the wrong opportunity to fire Alberto Gilardino.
“Firing Gilardino? Nothing surprises me anymore. He did great things last year and seems to have bounced back from a rocky start amid big sales and injuries this year.

Capello also recalled his acquaintance with Patrick Vieira, who was chosen as Gilardino’s successor.
“About Vieira, I knew the man when he was very young in Milan and we met him again at Juventus ten years later when he was a famous champion. He was always intelligent and polite.
I requested his signing with Juventus in 2005 to create a super midfield pairing with Emerson.
As a manager, I met Patrick when he was on the Crystal Palace bench. He performed well in the first season.
