Khizhnyak: Cooperation with Usik’s team is an extremely valuable experience

Khizhnyak visited Usik’s training camp and received $100 thousand from him for winning the Olympics

Ukrainian boxer, Olympic champion in Paris Alexander Khizhnyak visited the training camp in Spain of his colleague and compatriot, WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO heavyweight world champion Alexandra Usika.

“Collaboration with Alexander Usik’s team is an extremely valuable experience for me. I see here professional, motivated and responsible people who do not doubt for a second what they are doing. I’m thinking about turning professional, but at the same time I’m also thinking about a third Olympic medal. Personally, I will do everything possible to ensure that boxing remains on the Olympic program. I would also like to join in the popularization of amateur boxing among children,” Khizhnyak said.

It is also reported that during his visit, Khizhnyak received the reward promised by Usik for winning the Olympics in the amount of 100 thousand dollars.

This Olympic medal was the second in Khizhnyak’s career. At the 2020 Games in Tokyo, he became a silver medalist in the up to 75 kg weight category. Note that Alexander is the second Ukrainian boxer after Vasily Lomachenko, who won two awards at the Olympics.

Let us remind you that in mid-August Khizhnyak was awarded a certificate in the amount of 1 million hryvnia from the Poltava community. Subsequently, the champion was awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, IV degree.

Usik is preparing for a rematch with former WBC belt holder Tyson Fury at a training camp in Valencia. The Ukrainian said that he involves scientists, psychologists in the training process, and is constantly looking for suitable sparring partners. Last week, the “Gypsy King” announced the start of his training camp in Malta.

The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
