Arsenal wants to sign midfielder Real Guler on loan

The Gunners see parallels in the young Turk with Odegaard, who once failed to play in Madrid

Arsenal is considering the option of renting a midfielder Real Ardy Guler.

It is reported that the London club draws parallels with one of its leaders, Norwegian Martin Odegaard, who also once signed a contract with Blancos at an extremely young age (16 years old), but was never able to fulfill his potential in the Spanish giants.

19-year-old Guler moved to Real Madrid in the summer of 2023 from Fenerbahce. Over the entire period, he played only 22 matches out of a possible 48 for the Blancos (8 in the starting lineup), playing in terms of minutes only 17% of the total possible time.

It is assumed that the loan will be to Arsenal, which has established itself as a club that knows how to rely on youth. This transition can be an impetus for a Turkish teenager’s progress and professional growth.

Arsenal are not the only club to have Guler on their radar. It was previously reported that Fenerbahce, headed by Jose Mourinho, is laying claim to the player. Real Madrid is ready to consider the option of renting the Turk, which could be until the end of the 2024/25 season. Recently it was reported that Bayer Leverkusen plans to sign the midfielder on loan in January.

This season, Arda, whose contract with Blancos runs until the end of June 2029, played 12 matches for the club in all competitions (a total of 307 minutes), without scoring any goals. Only in three matches did the midfielder appear in the starting lineup. At the same time, Guler is a stable player in the main team of the Turkish national team, for which he played all six matches in the 2024/25 Nations League, scoring one goal and one assist.

Real are second in La Liga, six points behind Barcelona and have a game in hand. Arsenal are fourth in the Premier League (minus 9 points from leading Liverpool), while Mikel Arteta’s team remains winless in four rounds in a row.
