The ancestors of the star Brazilian football player are from the Cameroonian tribe.
Real Madrid and Brazil winger Junior Vinicius decided to study his family tree and discovered his African roots.
The 24-year-old Brazilian footballer, on his own initiative, passed a DNA test, the results of which revealed that his ancestors were from the Tikar tribe in Cameroon.
Before the match in the South American qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup Brazil – Uruguay (1:1), the player was given a surprise by showing an official certificate confirming his origin, reports AS.
“I did not know this, but now I will know. And I am very pleased. It is important to know where we come from. The majority of Brazilians do not know about our origin. And this should be something important. I am happy after all, I’m also from Cameroon.” – said Vinicius.

The initiative is part of the Golden Roots campaign, which aims to celebrate the African heritage in Brazil and highlight its cultural and sporting influence.
It was previously reported that the La Liga club epically trolled Vinicius over the Ballon d’Or.
