The Monegasques continue their pursuit of PSG
Monaco won at home Brest in the opening match of the 12th round French Ligue 1 – 3:2.
Already in the 5th minute of the meeting, Magnes Akliush brought the Monegasques ahead. In the middle of the first half, Alexander Golovin increased the home team’s advantage.
After the break, Abdalla Sima scored from a corner and reduced the gap in the score, but Brest was unable to come back. In stoppage time, Akliush restored Monaco’s comfortable lead.
Brest had enough time for another goal from Ludovic Azhorka, but they were unable to avoid defeat.
Monaco is in second position in Ligue 1, the team is three points behind PSG, but the Parisians have a game in hand. Brest suffered a third defeat in a row in the championship and remained in 12th position.
Next week both clubs will play matches in the 5th round of the Champions League. Brest will meet Barcelona on the road on November 26, and Monaco will host Anatoly Trubin’s Benfica on November 27.
