Attack “Spartacus” Manfred Ugalde said he was grateful to God and his partners in the Moscow team for the opportunity to score four goals in a single match for the first time in his career.
On Saturday, Spartak defeated Lokomotiv with a score of 5:2 in the home match of the 16th day of the RPL. Ugalde started and scored a goal in poker; with 12 goals, the Costa Rican leads the race for championship scorers.
— This is my first poker game. Happy, grateful to God and my teammates, thanks to whom I scored four goals.
– How did Spartak win?
“I think they played a good game tactically, they knew what to do, how to put pressure and gain space. We succeeded.
— In the episode with the first goal, was it a mistake by Ilya Lantratov or did you cover your opponent correctly?
— If you don’t put pressure, you won’t score (laughter). I realized I had to press because that was the game plan. The coach said we had to put pressure on. It seemed to me that the goalkeeper didn’t see me and I made this decision.
— Do you set yourself the goal of becoming the RPL’s top scorer?
– I don’t know. I work to score, but the main thing is to be useful. If I become the top scorer, that’s great.
— How to survive a difficult escape from the national team, come out and score four?
— I slept well on the plane. After the flight we had an evening training session, so I managed to get a little more sleep. I also had a good diet. But to be honest, I really want to sleep now.
-What did you eat?
— I have a simple diet: rice, salads and protein in the form of chicken or fish. “Everything is very simple,” a correspondent reported to Ugalde.
Spartak scored 31 points and is in fourth place in the RPL standings, with Zenit Saint Petersburg in the lead (39). In the next round, Dejan Stankovic’s team will face Krasnodar on December 1.
