Inter Miami plans to extend Messi’s contract until 2026 or 2027

Lionel’s current agreement expires in December 2025

Inter Miami intends to propose to his leader Lionel Messi contract extension.

It is expected that the new contract will be valid until December 2026. However, an option is possible with a contract immediately until 2027, the year in which the Argentine will turn 40.

Lionel’s current agreement with the club, for which Ukrainian defender Sergei Krivtsov also plays, runs until the end of 2025.

Messi has been playing for Inter Miami since the summer of 2023. This season, the Argentine striker played 22 matches for the club, in which he scored 21 goals and provided 11 assists.

Inter Miami previously parted ways with head coach Gerardo Martino. It is expected that the team will soon be led by Javier Mascherano. Let us remember that the 40-year-old specialist played with Messi in Barcelona and the Argentina national team during his playing career.

Inter Miami won the 2024 MLS regular season. However, in the playoffs, Martino’s team was sensationally eliminated in the first round by Atlanta United.
