If Ancelotti is sacked mid-season, Solari will take his place

For the Blancos management, the Argentine is a more preferable option than Raul or Arbeloa

Argentinean Santiago Solari can replace Carlo Ancelotti as head coach Real Madridif the Italian specialist is fired during the season for unsatisfactory results.

It is reported that the management of the Blancos of Madrid club, led by Florentino Perez, has recently been in negotiations with the 48-year-old specialist, who holds the position of director of professional football at the club.

The reason to think about Ancelotti’s prospects was the painful home defeats – 0:4 from Barcelona in the championship and 1:3 from Milan in the Champions League. If negative results are repeated, Carlo may leave his post, and Solari is seen as the most optimal candidate for successor from the club structure, ahead of two other legends – Raul Gonzalez (Castilla coach) and Alvaro Arbeloa (U-19 team coach).

Solari played for Real Madrid as a winger from 2000 to 2005. After finishing his playing career, he worked in the club structure since 2013, coaching youth teams. In 2016-2018 he headed Castilla. He also has experience as the head coach of Los Blancos, in the 2015/16 and 2018/19 seasons – a total of 36 matches, 25 wins and 9 losses.

Santiago returned to the Madrid club in 2022 (previously he coached Mexican America for more than a year) and has held his current position since then.

After yesterday’s victory over Atlético, Blancos dropped to third place in La Liga, but have two games in hand. Real Madrid will play their next match today, November 24, away against Leganes (starts at 19:30 Kyiv time).
