Ukrainian Motor won a very difficult victory over the Bosnian Izvidachem in the first match of the third round (essentially the 1/16 finals) European Cup 2024/25 in handball.
The guests (the match, nominally home for Motor, was hosted by the Slovakian Michalovce) played stronger in the first quarter of the match, once even achieving a four-goal advantage, but subsequently the Ukrainian team seized the initiative, regularly taking the lead. The first half brought an equal score – 16:16.
Events developed most unpredictably after the break. Equal opponents took turns leading the score. Three minutes before the end, Izvidac led 31:30, but Motor made a breakthrough and achieved a decisive advantage of two goals, of which the Bosnians managed to win back only one.
The result is, albeit minimal, but a victory that will now need to be defended in a week. The winner of the duel Motor – Izvidac will receive a place in the 1/8 finals. The reporting round will take place in 2025.
In the second round, we recall, Motor twice defeated the representative of Luxembourg – Ash. In the first match, the Ukrainian club fought a serious battle and won in a tense fight (32:26). The second match was an easier ride for Motor – 46:29.
