Krivbass mentor – about the victory over Obolon, problematic positions and individual progress of players
Head coach Krivbassa Yuri Vernidub commented on his team’s minimal victory in Kyiv over Obolon (1:0).
“Obolon has changed a lot with the arrival of Shishchenko. The opponents began to demonstrate more interesting football. Therefore, I understood that it would be very difficult. There is a young team here, all Ukrainians, so it was clear that they would “gnaw the earth” to the end. Our victory is worth a lot. I thanked the guys, because they were not inferior to the opponent and scored an important winning goal.”
“I am very grateful to the VAR referees for sorting out Tverdokhlib’s goal and counting it, because it was scored according to the rules, there was no offside. As for the penalty against us, after watching it on replay, I saw that everything was on point. The ball hit Tverdokhlib’s hand, so there are no complaints. As for emotions, I am such an emotional person, and this is how I react to certain moments. I’m glad we got those tough three points and are back in the game.”
“Krivbass has three matches ahead. If we play well, we will remain in the fight for bronze. Why not? We have a lot of new players and a lot of positional changes, but the guys are great, they listen to advice and work hard. I would like to wish them health, because we now have enough injured people. Let us remind you that the Vernidub team took three points from Kyiv today thanks to a goal in the first half by Yegor Tverdokhlib from an assist from 18-year-old Yaroslav Shevchenko, who played for the first time for the first team of Krivbass. The goal was initially disallowed due to offside, but after a VAR check justice was done.
Subsequently, Tverdokhlib “brought” the penalty, but the hero of the episode was goalkeeper Vladimir Makhankov, who played the first match of the season.
The victory allowed the Krivoy Rog club to return to fifth place, ahead of Karpaty. In the next round, Krivbass will host its direct competitor in the fight for European Cups – Polesie. The match will take place on November 30.
