De Bruyne suspends negotiations on contract extension with Manchester City

The Belgian midfielder’s current agreement with the club runs until the end of this season.

Midfielder Manchester City Kevin De Bruyne I am not sure that he will continue to play for the club after he suspended negotiations on a contract extension.

“Obviously when I started the season I knew there would be talks, but then I had a thigh injury against Brentford and I put that aside.”

“I was hoping to be out for a few days, but it ended up being eight or nine weeks of recovery and I’d rather be back first and let the rest fall into place.”

“I’m not too focused on things, I can’t say much. I’m fine, I’m happy, I just want to play football again, but we’ll see. Negotiations will come, if they don’t, this will be my last year at the club.”

De Bruyne has been in the Manchester City hospital since September with a thigh injury. The 33-year-old Belgian returned to the field only at the beginning of November, coming on as a substitute in the Champions League match lost to Sporting (1:4).

Kevin De Bruyne’s current contract with Manchester City runs until the summer of 2025.

This season De Bruyne has made 9 appearances for Manchester City in all competitions. The midfielder scored one goal and gave one assist.

Manchester City itself has lost its last five matches in all tournaments. Previously, the current champion of England had a similar series on its resume back in 1956.

Pep Guardiola’s team will have a chance to correct this series tomorrow, November 26. As part of the fifth round of the 2024/25 Champions League, it will host Feyenoord at home.
