Neymar’s father: My son always comes back better than he was

The Brazilian continues to struggle with injuries

Striker’s father Neymar – Neymar Santos Sr. – commented on the situation with another injury to the Brazilian.

“We see speculation… I know the market is waiting to see how Neymar will return. But he always comes back better than he was. This time it will be the same.”

Neymar became an Al-Hilal player in August last year, joining from PSG. His transfer cost the Saudi club 90 million euros. In his new place, the Brazilian managed to play only five matches, scoring one goal and providing three assists.

Neymar suffered a knee injury in October 2023 in a 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay. Since then, the forward has not taken the field for a year. Neymar was diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his knee, as well as damage to the anterior cruciate ligament.

The 32-year-old returned from injury on October 21, playing 14 minutes in the 5-4 Asian Champions League win over Al Ain. Neymar then received half an hour in the same tournament against Esteghlal (3:0). At the same time, he has no right to compete in the Saudi Arabian Championship, since he was not declared for the season due to the limit on foreign players.

In November, Neymar found himself on the sidelines again, suffering a torn hamstring and being out for four to six weeks. It is reported that the club from Riyadh does not intend to include the star Brazilian in the application for the second half of the season. With Neymar’s contract expiring in the summer of 2025, he will either be sold this coming winter or leave as a free agent at the end of the season.

It was recently reported that Santos continues negotiations on the return of Neymar. Peixe vice-president Osvaldo Nico is confident that the experienced striker will reunite with the club where he began his professional career next summer.

Al-Hilal is in second place in the Saudi Pro League after 11 rounds.
