The ex-Dynamo player, who is not needed by the Greek giants, may leave in the winter
Former midfielder of Kyiv Dynamo Benjamin Verbich may leave in the near future Panathinaikos.
His paths with the Greek giants seem to have diverged last summer. Then the club was unable to place the experienced Slovenian anywhere. Benjamin played one minute in the Europa League qualifying this season, but hasn’t even been included in the squad since the beginning of August. Nothing changed with the arrival of the Portuguese Rui Vitoria at the end of October.
It is reported that Panathinaikos is ready to negotiate with the player on an early termination of the contract this coming winter in order to relieve the salary bill. According to Greek media citing Slovenian sources, the parties only have to settle the details.
Verbic turned 31 today. The winger has been with Dynamo since February 2018. With the people of Kiev, Benjamin became the champion of Ukraine, the winner of the country’s Cup, and also a three-time winner of the Ukrainian Super Cup.
The Slovenian officially became a PAO player on July 29, 2022, having signed a three-year contract. It was reported that the footballer will earn 2.5 million euros over three years.
During his entire time with the Athens giants, Verbic played 58 matches, scored seven goals, and gave two assists. Won the Greek Cup 2023/24 season.
Panathinaikos is in 3rd place in the Greek Super League after 12 rounds. In the general stage of the Conference League, where Verbic is not included, the Athenians got only one point from their three opening matches.
