The Austrians managed to snatch victory thanks to a goal from Mika Bieret midway through the second half.
Ukrainian Viktor Tsygankov entered the starting line-up for Girona. The winger did not help the team avoid defeat; he was replaced by Abel Ruiz in the 73rd minute.
Sturm and Girona now have three points each and occupy 29-30 places in the overall Champions League table. In the next round, Tsygankov’s team will host Liverpool on December 10.
