The captain of the Czech team believes that Dynamo’s position in the Europa League table does not reflect how good the team is
Main midfielder and captain of the Czech Republic Victoria Lukasz Kalwach shared his thoughts about tomorrow’s match against Kyiv Dynamo in the 5th round Europa League 2024/25.
“We definitely believe that we can take an important step towards qualifying for the spring stage of the Europa League. “I believe that we are well prepared for this and will cope with tomorrow’s game against Dynamo Kyiv.”
“Dynamo’s position in the Europa League table does not reflect how good the team is. They dominate the Ukrainian championship and certainly have quality players. We don’t expect anything easy. They must feel that they have not been able to win so far, and they will want to do it. We must be as prepared as possible and play the way we played. I believe we have a great chance to win here and take a step towards advancing tomorrow.”
Dynamo played two games here, so they have some experience with the pitch and stadium. Maybe this is a small advantage for them. As far as I know, about 5,000 people are expected, so we won’t have the same atmosphere as in Frankfurt. Which is a shame.”
“Which Dynamo should we focus on? Definitely the central players – Shaparenko, Brazhko, they are the basis of the game. And then, of course, the attacking players. They have a national team striker up front, so that’s a big strength. They have dynamic players who understand the ball. We have to keep an eye on these players and not give them space.”
The match between Dynamo and Victoria will take place on Thursday, November 28, in Hamburg. The starting whistle at the Volksparkstadion will sound at 19:45 Kyiv time. The match will be officiated by the Portuguese team led by Luis Godinho.
With four defeats and a goal difference of 0:10, Dynamo is the worst team in the general stage of the Europa League. Victoria Pilsen is in 16th position with one win and three draws.
Let us remind you that in the Europa League qualifying this season, Victoria beat another Ukrainian club – Krivbass, scoring two victories (2:1, 1:0). The main forward of the Czech team is the Ghanaian Prince Adu (6 goals + 2 assists, including 2+1 in the League), who managed to score for Krivbass, after which he changed jobs at the end of August.
29-year-old Kalwach managed to play 23 matches this season (all with the captain’s armband), scored one goal and gave five assists (including two in the main stage of the League of Legends).
