Del Piero said he was open to an offer to become a candidate for president of the Italian Football Federation.

Former Italian and Juventus footballer Alessandro Del Piero has declared itself open to an offer to run for president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC).

Previously, information appeared that Del Piero could participate in the elections scheduled for February 3 next year. The current head of the FIGC is Gabriele Gravina. He has held his position since October 2018.

“First you need to be asked to run, and so far, no one from the FIGC has asked me to run.” You cannot show up without an invitation.

I am one of those who likes to listen, talk and be aware of everything. Team spirit is fundamental for me.

We all gave our hearts to the national team, I won the World Cup with Italy, so I don’t want to go around and cause problems. If they want to call me, we sit down and discuss the dynamics, but at the moment there is absolutely nothing concrete,” Del Piero said as quoted by Football Italia in reference to the Sky Sport Italia broadcast.

Del Piero retired from acting in 2015. He made 777 club appearances, scoring 316 goals and making 190 assists. As a member of the Italian national team, the footballer became world champion in 2006.
