The Reds are unbeaten in the Champions League
Liverpool beat on home field Real Madrid in the fifth round Champions League 2024/25 – 2:0.
The first half passed with the hosts’ advantage, but without any goals scored. The Reds managed to open the scoring early in the second half, with Alexis McAllister scoring.
Real had a chance to come back a few minutes later, but Kylian Mbappe missed his penalty. Mohamed Salah reciprocated the Frenchman’s feelings – the Egyptian did not score his penalty kick after another nine minutes. And yet the hosts managed to score the second goal, with Cody Gakpo scoring.
Ukrainian goalkeeper of Madrid Andrey Lunin remained on the bench. Belgian Thibaut Courtois played in goal for Blancos.
Liverpool remains the only team that has not yet lost points in the current overall stage of the Champions League. The Reds are in the lead, with Madrid in 24th place on the edge of the play-off zone with six points.
In the next round, Liverpool will visit Girona. Real Madrid will play in Bergamo against Atalanta. Both matches will take place on December 10.
