Dynamo U-19 defeated 2 Corrica in the UEFA Youth League
Attack Dynamo U-19 Matvey Ponomarenko commented on the crushing victory over Kosovo 2 Corriku in the first match of the third round Paths of UEFA Youth League champions (5:0).
“The impressions are only pleasant and positive. The team gave 100% today, all the boys did well, and I’m very glad that everything turned out this way.”
“We carefully studied this opponent, looked at the theory for two days. The coach told us that this is a very strong team in terms of pressure on the ball, they press very well. So we had to be on the rebound all the time, be on the ball all the time – only then would we succeed. That’s how it worked out, so we had a lot of chances from which we scored goals.”
“The first goal scored has a big impact. Especially when the team plays number two against you, if you score a quick goal, the opponent should open up. We have the opportunity to play as number two and act on counterattacks, which is much easier for us.”
“Of course, such a handicap is difficult to win back, but everything is possible. PSG also beat Barcelona 4:0, but lost in the return match and were eliminated from the Champions League. This is football. Therefore, there is no need to relax, we will go out and play until the end.”
Ponomarenko became the hero of the meeting, scoring a hat-trick. Kirill Osipenko scored another goal, and Ivan Andreyko’s goal summed up the game.
The return match of the Ukrainian team with the representative of Kosovo will take place on December 11. The away game for Dynamo starts at 17:00 Kyiv time.
The winner of the match against Dynamo – 2 Corriku will advance to the 1/16 finals of the Youth Champions League, where they will play against clubs on the Champions League Path ranked from 7th to 16th.
