Peter Bos: Pusic’s team showed a decent game and made the match very difficult for us, and the red card helped us

PSV managed an incredible comeback

PSV coach Peter Bos summed up the results of the confrontation with Shakhtar (3:2) in the fifth round of the group stage of the Champions League. The coach of the Dutch team recognized the strength and level of readiness of the opponent for the reporting game.

“Very good football, but not our best day. Indeed, a brilliant victory similar to the one in the match with Sevilla, but we started very poorly and defended poorly from the very start, continuing to play like that despite the fact that there were enough opportunities. There wasn’t that aggression, and, of course, we played against a good team. Shakhtar are a great team, but in the first half we did not show ourselves well. In the second half we looked a little better, but we lost 0:2, and this is an unpleasant result, and besides, we couldn’t score.”

“I believe that in the second half my players showed themselves better and showed the necessary energy and aggression. The red card, in my opinion, was fair, he didn’t do it on purpose, but it was a fair red card, which contributed to additional energy on the field. We subsequently replaced Olivier and, fortunately, won. It doesn’t matter if we ended up losing 0:2 or 0:3, we showed a good game.”

“I spoke to Marino Pusic after the game, and he has a slightly different view of this meeting and his team. I emphasized that his players showed a decent game and made the match very difficult for us, and the red card helped us, although for them it had a very negative effect. Our style of play was good, and in such matches you need to play at a high level, but the sharpness was lacking, especially in the first half. Yes, the second half was very good, you saw how Olivier and Matteo defended, but we also needed sharpness from the midfielders. And if it’s not there, then we’re falling behind.”

The miners were in the lead in the reporting match, but Pedro Enrique was sent off in the 69th minute. The miner could not withstand the pressure at the end of the meeting, missing a double from Tilman and a goal from Pepi.

PSV moved up to 18th position in the overall standings. On December 10, Bos’ team will fight with Brest.
