The police supported the version of the Valencian footballer Mir, accused of sexual assault

Four police officers from the town of Betera (Spain) testified in the case of Valencian footballer Rafa Mir.

In early September, Mir, 27, and his friend were arrested on suspicion of sexual and physical violence against girls aged 21 and 25. The alleged incident took place at the footballer’s home. The two suspects were later temporarily released, but are prohibited from approaching the victims or leaving the country. The footballer denies his guilt.

According to the source, the police supported the version to which the footballer adheres.

The police told the judge that their actions were limited to calming the two girls and trying to clarify what had happened.

“We considered it a minor issue.” If we had discovered a sexual assault, we would have followed the protocols,” they said, while admitting that Rafa Mir himself had given them the false name of a friend who was at home with him and who allegedly hit one of the women.

Police also found no injuries or bruises on any of the victims.

Currently, Rafa Mir is forced to train separately from the team according to an individual program.
