Artem is among 22 candidates for the 2024 national team
FIFA published lists of candidates in various categories for awards at the upcoming ceremony The Best FIFA Football Awards.
In category “Best Forwards” 22 players are presented, including: the second player in the world in voting for the Ballon d’Or Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid, his teammate Kylian MbappeManchester City representative Erling Hollandas well as the Ukrainian forward of Roma Artem Dovbikwho became the top scorer in the Spanish Championship last season with Girona. There are recognized legends on the list – 37-year-old Lionel Messi (Inter Miami) and 39-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nasr).
Based on the voting results, the strongest players in each role (forwards, midfielders, defenders, goalkeepers) will be determined, who will make up symbolic team of the passing year.
Let us remind you that Dovbik was previously nominated for the awards for the best player and the best striker of 2024 according to the Globe Soccer Awards. And at the end of October, Artem took 29th place in the voting for the Ballon d’Or, sharing this position with his teammate, German defender Mats Hummels.
In the main category of The Best FIFA Football Awards – the best footballer of the year – 11 players are presented. In addition to the aforementioned Vinicius, Haaland and Mbappe, the list includes three more Real Madrid representatives Dani Carvajal, Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham, their retired former teammate Toni Kroos, top Bundesliga prospect Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, phenom Lamin Yamal from Barcelona, as well as the winner ZM-2024 Rodri (Manchester City).
Voting takes place on FIFA website and will end on January 10, 2025. In the same month, laureates in various male and female categories will be announced.
