Liverpool and defender Virgil van Dyck Negotiations are continuing to extend the contract until 2027.
The current agreement expires at the end of the 2024/25 season. It was previously reported that other clubs were also interested in the player’s services, but a contract extension with the Reds is still possible.
Since 2023, Virgil has been the captain of the Reds. The Dutchman has been with Liverpool since January 2018, making a total of 287 appearances, scoring 25 goals and providing 13 assists.
This season, 33-year-old van Dijk has played in 17 matches in all competitions, scoring two goals and one assist.
Liverpool is confidently in the lead in the Premier League standings – plus eight points from Manchester City, which the Reds will host on Sunday, December 1. In the Champions League, Arne Slot’s team is the only one with a 100% record after five rounds.
