Yakymiv: The course of the fight with Obolon did not go according to our plan

Central defender Left Bank Andrey Yakymiv became a real savior of his club in match of the 15th round of the UPL against Obolon. It was his accurate strike in the 95th minute of the match that allowed the hosts to escape defeat in the Kiev derby. Of the five goals of the Left Bank this season, Yakymiv has two goals.

— Andrey, before the game with Obolon, your team had an eight-game streak without scoring goals. It could increase to 9 games. What thoughts did you have before referee Alexander Sandor’s starting whistle?

“Everyone understood the importance of this fight. It was a six-point game. We entered the field with one thought – we needed a victory. However, the course of the fight did not go according to our plan. Thank God, we were able to reduce this match to a draw at the end of the meeting.

— In the first half, Obolon had the advantage, you conceded a goal, which was then canceled by the referee. At the end of the first half, the Brewers still scored a goal, which had already been entered into the protocol. Was it difficult?

– Certainly. The guests put pressure, although we also tried to be competitive. Not everything worked out for us, but that’s football.

– Remember your goal?

“I remember everything, but I need to calmly watch this episode on video.” It is important that my partner Semenov reacted to my hint and passed the ball to me. I shot from the center of the penalty area and managed to hit an unprotected corner of the goal.

— Could this goal be a turning point for the Left Bank?

– I really hope so. We need to take our glasses.
