Fonseca’s team remained seventh, but is only seven points behind the leader
Milan beat with a big score Empoli in the home match of the 13th round of the Italian Serie A – 3:0.
The entire game was dictated by Paulo Fonseca’s team. In the first minutes, Alvaro Morata missed a good chance. Milan goalkeeper Devis Vazquez saved the Spaniard’s shot, but briefly delayed the goal. The Spanish forward shot into the bottom corner after Rafael Leau’s shot was blocked and a successful rebound was made.
The hosts continued to dominate. The ball did not go into the Empoli goal for a long time, but still, before the break, the Rossoneri were able to increase the score. Tijani Reynders found himself in the right spot in the penalty area and, with a half-turn, sent a shot into the same bottom-left corner.
After the break, the favorite played calmly through the score. Empoli, led by Lorenzo Colombo, on loan from Milan, tried to attack and create half-chances. And the hosts waited for their moment on the counterattack – Reynders scored a double with a precise shot, at the same time scoring the Red-Blacks’ first goal in this championship from long range.
Milan scored 22 points and secured 4th place. Fonseca’s team is seven points ahead of leading Napoli. Empoli remained tenth.
Next week, Fonseca’s team will play twice: first at home to Sassuolo in the Cup, and then away to Atalanta (2nd place) in the championship.
