Nedelin announced his resignation as CEO of Metalist 1925

Andrey worked at the Kharkov club for four and a half years

General manager Metalist 1925 Andrey Nedelin officially announced that he is leaving his position.

“Five years with “born in battle.” And today is the final working day for me and the management team, which came with me to the Metalist 1925 club in the summer of 2020.”

“At that time the club was in an unenviable position. The long-term contender for entering the elite under the pressure of covid “problems” actually arrived in a state of “clinical death”.

“Many people probably remember what happened next… I managed to move up in class the first time. With the support of AES Group, we formed and then stabilized the team. For some time they existed under conditions of modest funding and did not make a splash. And that’s why I won’t stop saying “Thank you!” Alexander Evgenievich Skakun and his like-minded people for a long-term alliance. “Eye to eye” met the war in Kharkov, did not disband, and spent a total of three seasons in the UPL. The second “clinical death” was experienced after the massive destruction of the production facilities of the AES company last summer. We received reliable support in the person of Vladimir Nosov and his company WhiteBit in August 2023. Thanks to this we were able to breathe deeply.”

“Looking back, I see a brave path of mistakes and victories. And I am infinitely proud of what I have achieved and what I can really be happy with today. I sincerely thank every employee of the club, managers, players, coaches. It wasn’t always easy for us, but we definitely did everything possible and impossible! Many thanks to the fans. For your faith, support and inspiration. Our victories are also your merit.”

“I wish Metalist 1925 to return home to peaceful Kharkov as quickly as possible. And we could enjoy the team’s home matches from the stands of the Metalist Stadium in our hometown. I’m definitely sad. As always happens when you let go of something valuable and expensive. But it’s time to move on. And I am absolutely confident that I leave the management of the club in good hands. Another ardent fan appeared in the stands of Metalist 1925 fans. I wish the club even better results and victories!”

Metalist 1925 had a hard time entering the season. Under the leadership of Viktor Skripnik, the team, previously relegated from the UPL, missed the chance to return to the elite, losing to Left Bank in the semi-finals of the Tournament of Four. In Group B of the First League, the Kharkiv team started with three points in four rounds.

Under new coach Patrick van Leeuwen, who took over on August 20, results gradually improved. As a result, Metalist 1925 finished second in its group, only two points behind Kudrovka. In the spring of 2025, the Kharkiv team will play in the Championship Group, competing for the right to return to the Premier League.
