Ashur: Tough game, Krivbass realized their chances, but we didn’t

Polissya lost to Kryvyi Rih on the road

Head coach Polesia Imad Ashur commented on the defeat in the match with Krivbass (1:3) in the 15th round Ukrainian Premier League.

“It was a very difficult game, everyone saw it. Tough game, tough field. And a result that is difficult to accept. But you need to accept it. The opponents today created a sufficient number of chances in situations where we could have played much more carefully and focused. They realized their episodes. The end result always makes all the difference. We didn’t convert our chances at the beginning of the match. The second match in a row when there are questions about implementation. All this influenced the course of the game and the final result.”

“Questions will arise for me one way or another. Absolutely everyone who is involved in the life of the club, we all want victories. From game to game we analyze the areas that need to be improved and which we can improve. I have said more than once that we are not yet ready for stable results. We are going through a transition period, changes are happening in the team. And we need to be more realistic in this situation.”

“I don’t think we are guilty of underestimating one player specifically. Tverdokhlib scored at different moments, so we need to sort it out. As for his performance, there were definitely no surprises. Each game is a new journey. But today we can state that one player had a huge impact on the outcome of the game.”

In a match between direct rivals for a place in the European Cup, Krivbass beat the Zhytomyr team on their home field. Egor Tverdokhlib scored a hat-trick. In Polesie, Alexey Gutsulyak managed to win back one goal.

Ashur’s team is in fifth place in the UPL with 23 points. The Zhytomyr team has not won the Ukrainian Championship for six games in a row. In the next match, Polesie will meet Rukh on December 4.
