Carrasco: We started well, but after the goal everything went wrong

LNZ lost to Veres at home

Head coach LNZ Andres Carrasco commented on the defeat from Veresa (1:2) in the 15th round match Ukrainian Premier League.

“We knew it would be a difficult game. Veres hasn’t lost since mid-September. They defend very well.”

“We tried to play aggressively. We started the game well and scored a goal. And after that everything went wrong. First they earned a penalty. I don’t understand why, but after the break we started making long vertical passes. This created periods of chaos in the game. We conceded the second time after a backward pass was too soft. And then everything was as always: we played like in the final match. This time, these efforts at the end of the match were in vain.”

“Our team lost three matches in a row. Can this be called a crisis? I think we’ve been in crisis since the second round. We should have beaten Alexandria then. And it’s hard for us to accept this defeat. Believe me, we approach every match as if it were a final. This is where our anxiety and excitement come from. And in such psychological stress it is not always possible to demonstrate the best game. That’s why I protect my players. We don’t have the best atmosphere right now to show our best game. We are constantly under pressure.”

“Yes, we lack aggression. We don’t get to play our best game. But this league is very even. And just a little luck changes everything. So we have to move forward and one day everything will change.”

LNZ took the lead thanks to Muharrem Yashari’s goal in the 27th minute. However, Veres bounced back before the break thanks to a penalty goal and then snatched victory in the second half. The double was designed by Luan Campos.

Carrasco’s team is in eighth place in the UPL with 18 points. In the next round, LNZ will play with Left Bank on December 7.
