Liverpool confidently beat Manchester City at home in the central match of the 13th round of the Premier League

Pep Guardiola’s side suffered their sixth defeat in their last seven matches in all competitions

The scoring was opened in the 12th minute – Mohamed Salah cut a pass from the right flank to the far post, where Cody Gakpo literally brought the ball into the net of Stefan Ortega’s goal. In the 78th minute, Salah himself converted the penalty and removed all questions about the winner of the match.

Manchester City’s winless streak already spans seven matches. The last time Pep Guardiola’s team won was on October 26, when they minimally defeated Southampton at home (1:0). In the next seven matches, the Citizens suffered six defeats and one draw.

Liverpool, in turn, is still a confident leader in the Premier League. The Merseysiders have a nine-point lead over lower-ranking Arsenal and Chelsea, and eleven points over Manchester City.

Both teams will play their next matches on Wednesday, December 4. Liverpool will be visiting Newcastle, while Manchester City will host Nottingham Forest at home.
