Zarya was losing after the first half, and managed to score two goals in the second
Head coach Zari Mladen Bartulovich commented on the strong-willed victory over Carpathians (2:1) in the 15th round UPL.
“Congratulations to my team on a very important victory for us. Finally, we showed character, which we lacked in the matches against LNZ and Krivbass. It may not be our best game, but we are happy with the outcome.”
“Regarding the release of Artem Slesar, I take full responsibility on myself, because it is my decision. That’s what I decided. Talked to him. He’s a young guy. They counted on his activity, his speed. Perhaps he “burned out” somewhere. Then they decided to release Kiryukhantsev because Artem had a yellow card. Trontel is working. Everyone is working. We also have Kiryukhantsev and Gusev for this position. I look at the work and make a decision.”
“We had unsuccessful matches against LNZ and two games against Shakhtar. Something had to be changed. We have three equal goalkeepers – Saputin, Turbaevsky and Matsapura. There is competition. Everyone is talented. Everyone is waiting for their chance. Saputin received it and is using it. I hope he continues to work like this in the future.”
“Zarya has always been a “men”. We are also building a new team. Many young players – Yatsyk, Gorbach, Slesar, Esquinha, Gusev… We need a little time. I’m sure this character will come. He was there in the game against Polesie, and he was there today too. We need to continue to work like this. There are still two important games before the pause. You should win them and rise in the standings. Our team has great potential.”
“The plan was to be more aggressive. In the first half we lost rebounds and there was no compactness. The midfielders did not always have time to pick up the rebound. In the second half we acted more compactly and aggressively in attack.”
Zarya lost after the first half, conceding a penalty goal from Pavel Polegenko. In the second half of the match, Petar Micin scored a double and brought the team victory.
Zarya scored 19 points and rose to ninth place in the UPL. In the next match, Bartulovich’s team will play against Ingulets on December 8.
