The Ukrainian women’s tennis team lost one place in the updated ranking of nations

Blue-yellow occupy 19th position

Ukrainian women’s tennis team worsened its position in the renewed ranking of nations. The blue-yellows lost one position and settled in 19th place.

In November, the Ukrainian team (captain Ilya Marchenko) held a playoff match for the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup with the Austrian team. The blue-and-yellows managed to secure a strong-willed victory – 3:2 – in the match confrontation.

After two singles wins by Signa Kraus (over Katarina Zawacka and Lesia Tsurenko), Austria took a 2:1 lead against Ukraine. However, Ukraine first equalized the score thanks to Zavatskaya’s victory over Yulia Graber, and then won a strong-willed victory in the doubles – the same Zavatskaya in a duet with Nadezhda Kichenok brought triumph to the blue-yellows, defeating Kraus and Tamira Pashek.

The victory over Austria allowed Ukraine to qualify for the final tournament of the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup. Our team will play the next match in April.
