The former University of Chile player has become one of the reserve figures of the Argentina team, for which his contract has been renewed until 2026.
The Argentinian-Chilean midfielder, Brandon Cortes have a great time in the reserve of Boca Juniors. The 21-year-old left behind the dull stage he had at the University of Chile and established himself as one of the most projected figures of Xeneize painting.
The one who was born in Barracas performed well in the Reserve Tournament. The blue and gold team has eight games unbeaten and seven wins in the meantime, in addition, it is only one unit of the 29 points that the scorer, Vélez Sarsfield, adds.
That’s why the midfielder signed a renewal until 2026 with Boca Juniors. « Brandon William Cortés, 2001 driving class, has signed his contract extension until December 2026 with Jorge Bermúdez from the Football Council,” the team said through their social media.
“The kid who plays like Riquelme”
Cortés, who uses the ’10’ as a reserve, dazzled the Argentinian fans with goals, assists and dribbles. The illusion among the trasandinos is such that the young player has been compared to one of the club’s greatest idols: Juan Román Riquelme.
Olé, one of the most relevant media in Argentina, titled the news of the footballer’s renewal as “Boca renewed the kid who plays like Riquelme” making a comparison with the flashes that the young footballer showed in the duels of the Reserve Tournament.
Cortés’ career is just beginning and he seems to have left the days at Centro Deportivo Azul behind. The midfielder arrived at the University of Chile on loan in November 2020 and only managed to play six games that year which translated to 155 minutes. Meanwhile, the next day he played six more games, but this time with three minutes less.
The footballer was never able to establish himself as a starter and the only goal he scored was not enough for him to stay longer with the Blues. A year later, he will leave La Cisterna to return to the Argentine capital.
