Lucescu: Tsygankov and Popov will miss the second leg against Benfica

Sidorchuk will return in the second leg

Main coach Dynamo Mircea Lucescu said that the team will not be able to perform in the optimal composition in the second leg of the playoff round Champions League with Benfica.

“It is important that Sidorchuk will return, in the first match we conceded two goals from the zone where he usually operates. But we also lack two more players – Tsygankov, who will miss the match due to an injury received in the first match, and Popov, who is also injured.

“Benfica plays good football. Organized, with good combinations. All the players are experienced and of high international level, they have great potential. Rafa Silva is probably the best and it’s a surprise to me that he still doesn’t play for a big club in another country.”

“We need to win back not three, but two goals, and continue to play extra-times, as we used to play twice already away in Champions League qualification.”

“At the moment, the Lisbon team is much better prepared than we are. We will try to show a good game before the start of the Ukrainian championship.”

“I am sure that tomorrow there will be a wonderful atmosphere in the stands, many fans will come. Benfica are the best team in Portugal and will play at the highest level. We have young players who haven’t seen their families for over two months.”

The second leg of the team will be held on August 23 in Lisbon. The game starts at 22:00. The main arbiter of the meeting between Benfica and Dynamo will be 40-year-old Frenchman Clement Turpin.

In the first match, Mircea Lucescu’s men lost to Benfica with a score of 0:2. The meeting took place in Polish Lodz.
