Colo Colo: In Argentina they assure that with the VAR the first goal of River Plate would have been canceled

Trans-Andean media agree that Matías Suárez’s score was marred by Paulo Díaz’s previous foul on Alexander Oroz and they insinuate that referee Alexis Herrera should have called it off.

Minute 82 of the duel between Colo Colo and River Plate. The Argentinians played a bit better than the Chileans but still couldn’t disturb the closing of substitute Brayan Cortés.

However, everything would change forever, when Alexander Oroz tries to mount an attack in midfield and is swept away – on a foul – by Paulo Díaz. The reason? This game ends with a goal from Matías Suárez and is the trigger for the triumph of the Transandean team at David Arellano.

“The defender arrived before the crash and touched the ball (ball), however in his sweep he ended up hitting the Chilean footballer with his left thigh and knocking him down. Due to the hit, Oroz was kicked out of the game and couldn’t take part in the replay “, describes the Argentine newspaper Olé. And then he adds: “Referee Alexis Herrera did not charge the foul, the game continued and ended 1-0 for Suárez. As there is no VAR in the group stage of the Libertadores, the goal was validated despite the infraction at the start of the game ”.

Meanwhile, Clarín writes that “Núñez’s team started playing with a 4-4-2, with Barco and De la Cruz as away midfielders. This audacity was rewarded in the 38th minute, when Suárez, from Cordoba, took advantage of a weak rebound from Carabalí and touched the empty net. The previous game had been showy and the start of this one doubtful due to a strong entry from Paulo Díaz during recovery ”.

Finally, the prominent journalist on the other side of the mountain range, Daniel Avellaneda, posted on his social media: “They didn’t show it on the show anymore. It was a very clear foul by Paulo Díaz on Oroz in the game before Suárez’s goal. Venezuelan Alexis Herrera did not charge and there is no VAR. The Chileans were right to complain.
