Schmidt: In the match with Dynamo we must play at the highest level from the starting whistle

Benfica manager believes that the winner of the confrontation has not yet been decided

Benfica head coach Roger Schmidt said that his team should show their best game from the first minutes of the second leg of the qualifying playoff round Champions League against Dynamo.

“We have to play at the highest level from the starting whistle. We had a good first match, but now we are in the middle of the confrontation, at half time. We feel that Dynamo are a good team, dangerous, and they will do everything to return to the fight.

“In Poland, Dynamo had moments in the game, they challenged us and gave us problems in defense. Of course, they adapt their tactics based on the score, but it is important for us to show our readiness from the first minutes. Benfica should take advantage of their field.”

Earlier, Dynamo went to Portugal for the second leg of the playoffs of the Champions League qualification. The Kyivans have 26 players, including midfielders Denis Garmash and Sergei Sidorchuk, who missed the first game with the Eagles due to disqualification.

The second leg of the team will be held on August 23 in Lisbon. The game starts at 22:00. The main arbiter of the meeting between Benfica and Dynamo will be 40-year-old Frenchman Clement Turpin.

In the first match, Mircea Lucescu’s men lost to Benfica with a score of 0:2. The meeting took place in Polish Lodz.
