Serious incidents in the Monumental before the clash between Colo Colo and River

Several accesses to the Monumental were violated by human avalanches and even the police intervention failed to control the mass. So far, the game has not been suspended.

The preview of Colo Colo’s most important duel in the current version of the Copa Libertadores was not calm at all.

Did the high call generated by their game against River Plate and the slow pace of the fans entering the stadium, caused some impatience and a serious incident occurred outside the David Arellano. What happened? The Barristas del Popular began to push the bars in various sectors of the Colossus of Macul and some of them gave way, causing human avalanches.

And although no injuries have yet been registered, the disturbances provoked the intervention of the special forces of the Carabinieri, who tried to control the situation with the water jet car, tear gas and pepper.

And although -at some point- the worst was to be feared, especially when a few bars found themselves on the ground, the situation calmed down over the minutes and inside the compound there was no disorder.

The problem is that according to reports from Macul, There were several hundred people who took advantage of the chaos to be able to see the tantalizing duel live without having their respective ticket. Consequently, to the 40,000 people who were expected in the stands, others will be added and this could affect the safety of those present.

The good thing, for those who have paid for their ticket, is that Conmebol has not acted on this and for now everything is continuing as planned: At 8:00 p.m., the whites of Gustavo Quinteros will face the Transandines of Marcelo Gallardo.

Of course, it is expected that in the coming days the regulatory body will take action on the matter and the Cacique could receive heavy sanctions for his last home game, against Fortaleza, next May.
