How Kabaev played against the giants: he never scored, but was removed from Dynamo

He is alone, naturally alone – whom Dynamo signed in 2022 from completely strangers. It just so happened that over the past year – since the signing of the superstars Antyukh, Kulach, Ramirez and Vitinho – the metropolitan giant has only sent rented back and forth.

In the meantime, Garmash played in the attack, Shepelev played on the left flank of the midfield, and the absence of Sidorchuk (albeit a captain, but one player) was named among the main reasons for the first defeat from Benfica. Less crushing, if you look objectively …

So Kabaev’s invitation was expected – and if one of the previous newcomers managed to flicker against the backdrop of instability, then Kabaev went for a long time to a big step in his career. And now the question asked by the Sport Arena is how, in fact, did Vladislav play against Dynamo? To our attention – statistics, videos and personal impressions.

Antyukh was taken to Dynamo by fresh memory from a benefit performance

They say that the fate of Kolos rotation midfielder Denis Antyukh was decided by two matches in front of Mircea Lucescu. On July 26, 2020, Kolos defeated Dnipro-1 in the playoff match for entering the European Cups, and Denis scored 2 + 1 in the “goal + pass” system. On December 12, 2020, Kolos played a 2-2 draw with Dynamo himself on the road, Antyukh, with a rebound from Mikolenko, saved the Kovalivtsy from defeat.

As a result, Antyukh played only four matches for Dynamo and a year after the invitation he followed to Zarya. This was not publicly announced, but it can be assumed that Denis became part of the Kabaev deal. Transfermarkt believes that Vladislav cost Dynamo 1.2 million euros, and Denis Zare – 200 thousand.

Kabaev most often played against Dynamo

In his club career, Vlad has played against 41 opponents. And it is necessary, most often – it is against Dynamo! Kabaev met with the people of Kiev 21 times, while with Shakhtar – 16, Alexandria – 15, Olympic – 11, Desna – 10, and with the rest – less than ten times. By the way, as part of Chernomorets and Zarya Kabaev, he played a total of 184 matches, scoring 12 goals and 17 assists. And among his rivals were, for example, Leipzig, Roma, Leicester, Espanyol, Athletic. Even with Bodø / Glimt, so beloved by football geeks, Vladislav was brought together by fate.

As we said, Kabaev played 21 matches against Dynamo. How did these meetings turn out?

Zorya under Kabaev defeated Dynamo only once

Vladislav knows what it means to defeat Dynamo, but he experienced it only once. As part of Chernomorets and Zorya, he played 21 matches with the people of Kiev – 15 lost, five in draws and only one won. This was even before the covid – in December 2019, the “muzhiks” under the leadership of Skrypnyk won in the capital – 2:1. Kabaev played the whole match, but he was not the hero – the future defender of Anderlecht and Shakhtar Mikhailichenko and the future midfielder of Kryvbas Khomchenovsky scored against the hosts.

But in the five matches that Zorya drew with Dynamo, Kabaev was good. He gave two assists against the people of Kiev just when the “muzhiks” were robbing the people of Kiev. In September 2019, Abu Khanna dragged a strong-willed home draw 2:2 with a gorgeous goal, and Kabaev assisted him in the 82nd minute. By the way, Gerson, De Pena, Kadar and the legend Kadiri also played in Mikhailichenko’s team. And in October 2020, Zorya led in the capital thanks to a goal from Kochergin, and Vlad was assisted in the 65th minute by the namesake and countryman Kabaev. By the way, the goal in response was from Vladislav’s predecessor at No. 7 in Dynamo – Benjamin Verbich.

Kabaev set a dubious achievement against Dynamo

Vlad, in general, is a correct player – he tries to foul on business, he is not noticed in particular rudeness. However, it was in the match against Dynamo – a 1-1 draw in Zaporozhye in the fall of 2018 – that Kabaev got his only (so far) removal in adult football. At the end of the match, with a draw, he fouled against Supryaga, leaving Zorya in the minority.

But not only two assists, one victory and one removal make Kabaev memorable matches against his future club. At one time, a recent student made his debut in the UPL in the game against Dynamo – it was 8 years ago, 18-year-old Vladislav replaced Vitaly Balashov in the 87th minute.

By that time, Rebrov’s wards beat Grigorchuk’s team – 2:0 – thanks to Yarmolenko’s double. And to feel old, imagine that then such legends as Bezotosny, Teika, Nazarenko and Didenko played for the Odessans.

To make our article more complete, it is interesting to see how the matches against another domestic giant, Shakhtar, developed for Kabaev. And here it is interesting! Out of 16 games, his teams won 3 with 4 draws and 9 defeats. And Kabaev himself “annoyed” Shakhtar with two assists for all these matches. And it was in one match – in the fall of 2020. Then Castro’s wards lost in Zaporozhye and barely escaped defeat (2:2), and Kabaev assisted under the goals of Kochergin and Yurchenko (in the first case – an assist, in the second – an earned penalty).

And what is the result? Is Kabaev a “second Antyukh” or a “modern Gusev”?

And here we are looking at it all.

Of course, it is difficult to lasso a legionnaire to Ukraine now. But, among the players available in the league with a strong left midfield/winger position, Dynamo have now signed the best. So they said in the Kiev camp, and among experts and journalists.

Kabaev is motivated – he has already felt the UPL, European cups, but still did not play higher than the youth team of Ukraine and did not take anything more significant in medals than “bronze”.

Kabaev is already experienced – the ninth season at the highest level, 201 matches for clubs and national teams, about 30 effective actions.

Kabaev is full of energy – 27 years old is the age of sporting achievements, when you can demand from a player and he can meet the requirements.

There is a gaping hole in the left half position of Dynamo, and Vlad himself said the words that any coach likes – that he is ready to play where necessary, and hopes that Lucescu will reveal new facets of talent in him.
