The Pitmen rebuilt the game in the second half
Main coach Shakhtar Igor Jovicevich considers the Pitmen’s victory over Rukh in the third round of the UPL (1:0) well-deserved.
“We envisaged a positional attack on a low block with the opponent going into a counterattack. For a team that is building, this can be inconvenient – we got a few counterattacks after our mistakes.
In general, we were in their half of the field, looking for holes in the defense, trying to clearly transfer the ball. We lacked more innings to score not at the first pace, but at the second.”
I think we deservedly won, although there was a hard game and incomprehensible refereeing. I don’t know what this is connected with, but everyone should analyze their work, and the referee committee too.
“We, in the minority, deliberately left the left flank empty in order to confuse them a little: there was only Hemp, and Sudakov was launched under the attacker, the opponent had no reference point. We lured them to the right edge, from where the goal came – when Bondar filed for Hemp.
Petryak, Zubkov, Swede are not in optimal shape. Recently, they either did not play or were injured. Traore is an important figure for us, but we also cannot put him right after a year with an injury. They missed the training camp in Slovenia and the Netherlands, and now they are training as a team.”
In the first half of the match against Rukh, Shakhtar’s winger Mykhailo Mudryk received a red card. The Pitmen’s victory was brought by a goal by Yefim Konoply, who closed the cross from the right flank in the middle of the second half.
On September 6, Shakhtar will play away against RB Leipzig in the first round of the Champions League group stage. On September 10, the Pitmen will meet Chernomorets within the UPL.
